Code42 CrashPlan integrates with Splunk Cloud, which is an enterprise solution for data analytics monitoring and visualization. Code42 app encrypts all user data before it leaves endpoint devices for storage in Code42 backup archives. No one can decrypt a user's data without that user's archive encryption key. To protect the keys, Code42 offers three levels of security. For users of Code42 apps, this article describes whether and how to implement the two advanced levels. Passphrase: Opens a prompt to generate an encryption key from a passphrase. Generate key: Displays options for generating a custom key. When enabled, you or your administrator can restore files only by providing the custom key. The custom key cannot be reset if it is forgotten or lost. Without the custom key, backup data is unrecoverable. An archive key password is one available archive encryption key security option. A backup archive holds encrypted data from your device. To restore data from the archive, the Code42 app copies it to your device, then decrypts it so you can read it. The encryption key is a random string of characters used to encrypt and decrypt your data. Standard Code42 security stores that key at the authority server.
